This paper examines the geography and concentration of Black tech workers in computing ahead of Silicon Valley.

Leveraging unemployment insurance eligibility requirements, we examine scenarios in which states are more difficult or less difficult to obtain benefits and what characteristics these states have.

This is an addition to the literature by using political factors and UI eligibility requirements to understand the constraints applicants undergo.
